Frequently Asked Questions

Honestly, this completely depends on the game you’re wanting to play and the league you’re competing in. With OKSE you could use a variety of equipment because 90% of all of the games we play actually are crossplay compatible. If you can not afford equipment upfront you can always have your students bring in equipment as well to help get your program going. OKSE supports PC, PS5 , Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch. There is no reason to spend tons of money on your start-up unless you “have to” spend it ie (Grant/Federal Program/etc.) Be sure to check our Technical Support Page for Minimum System Requirements for PC.

Yes. This question has been asked many times throughout multiple conversations over the years. As of December 2025, we are partnered with OSSAA. We will work together with the OSSAA and PlayVS as a three-way partnership for the OSSAA titles and operate with OKSE being the advisory board for OSSAA Esports. We will work together for the 3 titles each semester that OSSAA will provide, then OKSE will also offer other game titles outside of the OSSAA agreement for additional state championship opportunities.

Current costs are $200 for your first school, then $100 extra for each additional school. This will cap out at $1,000 max for a district. This is for an entire year, including both the fall and spring seasons! August until May, you pay one time and your students get to play two seasons. If cost is a deal breaker please contact us via email and we will work with you on what needs to be done. Let’s bring esports to your school first and worry about the fees later! We do not take anything for overhead, it is 100% for the students!

We have varying schedule opportunities. Our Bison (Large High Schools) operate with a weekly scheduled game format. Our Scissortail (Small High Schools) operate with a End Of Month Saturday with flexible scheduling (EOM w/ Flex), which means the default competition is the set Saturday at the end of the month, but the 2 coaches in a match have the flexibility to agree on a day throughout the month before EOM. We also have some Virtual Titles that are on set day/time format, however we provide flexibility for those titles including the ability for students to play from home even.
Currently, our Middle School is on a set Saturday each month.
We also offer some In-Person events, which are scheduled throughout the season and all coaches are notified beforehand about the competitions in person. Be sure to check our Calendar for the latest information!

Honestly, this question depends on how you want to design and run your program. As a class you’d be able to get curriculum, including incorporating CTE opportunities, as well as the opportunity to practice throughout the school day compared to after school. The big issue with after school is trying to pull everyone together for team based games. However it can be done, it’s all about how you structure it.
-
Yes, they definitely can! There’s no reason to limit students if we don’t have to.
-
All of our games we work directly with developers to be able to offer the games we do because of licensing. If you want to see a game added please contact us and we will work on it. We also try to give coaches input in game titles being offered, so watch for surveys from OKSE exec board to get your vote in.
-
Yes absolutely! There are ways we can help train your coach, as well as collegiate programs willing to offer assistance. If any coach is unfamiliar with games or have any issues, then we can help guide them in the direction they need! Remember, no one will know every game offered and that’s fine. If you’re willing to take the time to help your students, they’ll be willing to explain the game to you 90% of the time.
What Our Coaches Are Saying...
“
What I enjoy the most about OKSE is the incredible sense of community and camaraderie it fosters among high school esports enthusiasts like us. From the moment I step into their events, I feel a surge of excitement and belonging that's truly unmatched. What is even better, is that no matter what school the coaches/students are from, they're generally rooting for everyone!
What truly sets OKSE apart is the genuine passion and dedication they pour into creating a supportive environment where players, and even new coaches, can thrive and grow.
The team behind OKSE goes above and beyond to ensure that every participant, coach, and attendee feels valued and respected, regardless of skill level or background.” Lawton Schools
